At S.C.A.R.S. we provide a safe community of support and love, and a pathway for healing for survivors of intimate partner violence. We are committed to helping survivors holistically renew their lives, as well as change societal attitudes and beliefs about domestic violence through awareness initiatives.

Meet the Founder

Sonja J. Holt

Sonja J. Holt is a healthy lifestyle advocate, entrepreneur, speaker, trainer and Overcomer. Since she was a child, Sonja has had a passion for people and helping others. After experiencing years of abuse, Sonja gained enough strength and courage to expose what was happening in her relationship and leave. Through her healing process and new found strength, Sonja recognized that she wanted to help others who were going through abuse, at the hands of someone who claimed to love them. Sonja realized that domestic violence was a taboo subject that people did not want to address or talk about. It became Sonja’s personal mission to speak out, educate and dispel age old myths about domestic violence.

Sonja holds a Bachelors degree in Business Management, is a trained domestic violence and sexual assault advocate, and member of the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance.

Sonja has been privileged to spread awareness of domestic violence and abuse via various avenues such as radio shows, television appearances, churches, seminars and community events. Every year, Sonja celebrates her personal “Independence Day.” She believes that all OVERCOMERS should celebrate the day they regained their independence, because they have been given a Second Chance At Renewing Self.
